About Me
Fun. Determined. Focused.
I became a lawyer to use a lifetime of problem-solving experience in meaningful ways. Before law school, I led a highly skilled team at IBM in our mission to craft information security solutions in support of a large business unit. I also fulfilled a lifelong dream by learning to build my own small, energy-efficient home and traveling across the country as a public speaker to teach others how to do the same.
When I was a child, my father passed away unexpectedly, and I saw how my mother struggled. There were a lot of uncertain times while I was growing up, but through her own strength and with the help of very thoughtful people she was able to make things work and even start her own business when she was in her 50s. Her example showed me the importance of planning and gave me the courage to pursue my dream of being an attorney.
I balance my time between helping clients reach their goals and working in my community to increase access to affordable housing and economic opportunities. I’m on the board of OnTrack WNC, an organization providing financial education and counseling to individuals and families throughout Western North Carolina.
I am licensed to practice law in North Carolina and am a member of the North Carolina and Buncombe County Bar Associations.
My cat and office manager, Toast, is on staff in my office. She has several years of supervisory experience and works hard to ensure I am always on task.
